Two honest ways to get your numbers.

Order now: the test is part of the order

For well systems, SpringWell adds its lab test (Level 1 + Bacteria, $134.25) to the same checkout. It holds the order until your results are in, and if the system isn't compatible with your water, it cancels the order and refunds the system. The test itself isn't refundable2, 4.

Or test independently first

A state-certified lab gives you a neutral answer you can use with any brand: one Wisconsin lab charges $78 for a basic homeowner panel and $75 for metals including iron and manganese, $153 together, against $134.25 for SpringWell's test2, 10. Bring your numbers back to the selector above.

  • Independent result you can use with any brand
  • Also tells you whether you need a whole-house system at all

How the selector decides

The same rules as our guides, applied to your numbers.

  • Benchmarks: EPA standards.11, 12 Bacteria, nitrate and arsenic are flagged first because they are health issues.
  • Treatment order (our summary of extension and state guidance): sediment filtered out first, pH corrected before other treatment, iron/manganese/sulfur removed before the softener, UV last.13, 14, 16, 19
  • Product fit uses the manufacturers' own stated limits: SpringWell WS up to 7 ppm iron, 8 ppm hydrogen sulfide, 1 ppm manganese, pH 6.5–10;2 Aquasana's UV needs iron below 0.3 ppm, manganese below 0.05 ppm and hardness below 7 gpg, and the Rhino Well is sized for up to 2.5 bathrooms.5, 7
  • Result notes (anode rod, nitrate and infant formula, arsenic speciation, softener after iron) follow extension and state health guidance.14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20
