About & method

Well Owner's Guide helps people on private wells understand their water and pick treatment that fits their test results, not a sales pitch.

Who we are

A small independent site, run as a sole proprietorship from Germany (see Imprint). We are not water-treatment dealers and not a laboratory.

  • IndependentA sole proprietorship, run from Germany
  • Not a dealerWe don't sell water-treatment systems
  • Not a laboratoryFor your water, use a certified lab

How we research

The same four steps for every guide and every review.

  1. Public guidance first

Health limits and testing advice come from the EPA, the CDC, the USGS and state extension services.

  2. Manufacturer documents, read critically

Specifications, manuals, warranty terms and stated limits (for example the maximum iron a system handles).

  3. Certification over claims

We separate "certified to NSF/ANSI …" (checked by an independent body) from "tested to" or "reduces" (the manufacturer's own claim), and say which is which.

  4. Sources on the page

Every number links to where it comes from, with the date we checked it.

What we don't claim

Where our work ends, so you know what to check yourself.

  • We haven't installed or lab-tested the products ourselves.
  • We don't give medical advice. If your water may affect someone's health, talk to your health department or doctor.
  • Prices and terms change. Check them on the manufacturer's site before you buy.
